Twinning Projects in general

Twinning projects are European Union initiatives to help acceding, candidate or neighbouring countries to acquire the necessary skills and experience to adopt, implement and enforce EU legislation and international standards.

On demand driven basis, the projects bring together public sector expertise from EU Member States and partner countries, with the aim of enhancing co-operation activities. Twinning projects are joint contracts awarded, following a call for proposals and shared by the two partner administrations.

“Institution-building for alignment with the Union acquis on the protection of personal data”, is a Twinning Project between Italy, Austria and Albania funded by the European Union in the frame of the EU Pre-Accession Assistance Programme.

In this Twinning Project the Information and Data Protection Commissioner (IDP) Albania works with the Autorità Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, Italy, supported by the Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft Institute of Human Rights (BIM), Austria, and CSI-Piemonte (CSI), Italy.
