In the context of implementation of the Cooperation Memorandum between the Office of Information and Data Protection Commissioner (IDP) and the Agency for Information and Privacy of Kosovo (AIP), a second staff meeting was organised, aimed at strengthening professional cooperation, exchange and discuss cases from the administrative practice, as well as planning future initiatives.

Both Commissioners, Mrs. Krenare Sogojeva-Dërmaku and Mr. Besnik Dervishi, emphasized the importance of the periodic development of staff meetings, in view of the increasing challenges in both areas of institutional responsibility which require different dynamics in addressing them.

The activity was held over two days, and the agenda focused on the regulatory framework and the activities carried out by the AIP, notably the duties and responsibilities of the constituent structures of the Kosovan authority. The Commissioner’s Office has offered to provide assistance for the implementation of the regulatory framework in the area of the right to information, particularly for the drafting/updating of the Transparency Programme, by relying on the experience gained over the years. On the other hand, following the discussions on the practical cases in the area of personal data protection, parties agreed to intensify cooperation by conducting joint investigations. Our counterparts recognized the support of the Commissioner’s Office for AIP’s membership in the International Conference of Information Commissioners (ICIC), and underlined that efforts should be coordinated to secure broad recognition of Kosovo’s authority by international organisations in both areas.
