“Network of officials for the protection of personal data” is the platform of communication, cooperation and sharing of good practices in order to guarantee the rights of citizens. The Information and Data Protection Commissioner’s Office carried out the activity for the launch of this “Network”. This meeting was attended by over 110 representatives from central and independent institutions, or public and private controllers that exercise their activity in fields and sectors such as telecommunications, banking and finance, insurance, health, education, tourism and different services .
Commissioner, Mr. Besnik Dervishi in his welcoming speech emphasized the role of “the official” as a function with duties and responsibilities defined in the structure of the controller/processor. “The Commissioner’s Office has been organizing meetings and trainings with professional or sectoral groups for over two years, for the very importance of understanding the implementation of legislation in the field, especially now that this regulatory framework will be fully aligned with the European one, the General Regulation of Data Protection (GDPR)” – he emphasized.
Mrs. Pjerina Gaxha, General Director of Personal Data Protection, held a presentation on the role, functions and activity of the “the official” in the controller/processor, in the light of the legislation in force, but especially of the modernized one in the field. Among the main responsibilities of the “the official” are those for the internal supervision of the fulfillment of obligations for the protection of personal data; for the implementation of technical-organizational measures in this process and, in particular, keeping documentation related to the Information Security Management System (ISMS). On the other hand, this function engages in continuous monitoring for compliance with legal acts; in assessing the impact on data protection; informs, advises and trains controller/processor staff on all matters related to this area within the organization and collaborates, interacts and serves as a point of contact with the Commissioner’s Office.
