The Information and Data Protection Commissioner’s Office kick-started implementing the third component of the Twinning Project “Institution-building for alignment of the legislation on personal data protection with the EU acquis”. The scope of this component is the introduction of the staff of the Commissioner’s Office with the new regulatory framework in the field of personal data protection and enhancing awareness of public and private controllers on the accountable implementation thereof (referred to as dissemination events).
A first dissemination event was held in cooperation with the Albanian School of Public Administration (ASPA), and gathered over 60 representatives of central and independent institutions. This activity dealt with the novelties of the new legislation on personal data protection, which is aligned with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Law Enforcement Directive; the impact of these new data protection rules on the institutions of public administration and the extended range of data subjects’ rights.
Lecturers in this dissemination event included experts from the Project partners: the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la Protezione dei Dati Personali), the CSI – Piemonte Italy, the Austrian Institute for Fundamental and Human Rights “Ludwig Boltzmann” (BIM) and the Commissioner’s Office.
