Under the direction of the French Data Protection Authority (CNIL) and the Office of Information and Data Protection Commissioner of Albania was established and activated the International Working Group on the Strategic Goals of the Conference of European Data Protection Authorities.
Along with its contribution in the quality of Member of the Accreditation and Support Committee and host of the forthcoming 28th edition of the Conference to be held in Albania on 3-4 May 2018, the Office of the Commissioner will provide its input with regard to the strategic direction and strengthening of this forum. Over the past editions of the Conference it has been pointed out the necessity to clearly set up the mission of this forum, in order to better respond to the needs of Data Protection Authorities to fulfil their missions. Additionally, these objectives should take into account the rapid technological developments, as well as promoting and facilitating co-operation among regulatory authorities to effectively respond to the challenges arising from these developments. Alongside the French and Albanian DPAs the Working Group comprises the following members: UK, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands, European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS), Cyprus, Moldova and Monaco. Members will conduct consultations through teleconferences, whereas a discussion paper will be introduced to the Plenary on the second day of the 28th edition of the European Conference in Tirana.
It is worth mentioning that the European Conference is the largest and most important co-operation forum of our continent in the field of personal data protection, currently gathering 62 accredited members and 6 observers.
